saturday

Lads,
There is no training this Thursday as we move over to the all-weather pitches next week (2nd Oct)
in Sportsco (Directions below). With the lack of training this Thursday it’s up to players to take
personal responsibility for their fitness.
We’re down for 1 fixtures for this weekend. Can you get back to me on availability.

Lads,
Time for the new season !
The first round of matches is scheduled for the weekend of the 15th of August.
Pre-season is scheduled to begin next Monday in the Phoenix Park, meeting at 6.45.
Please try and make it up on time. We are currently organising with Anthony from
St. Patrick’s Athletic to come down to go through pre-season with us again this season.
I think everyone enjoyed the sessions in the Phoenix Park last year and hopefully we can
carry on from it this year.
For people who were at the end of season games, your manager from last year should have explained
what we have in mind for re-organising the club for the coming season. Instead of having a pre-defined
Saturday or Sunday squad, there will be one squad who will train twice a week.
Come Thursday night training the managers for the Saturday and Sunday league will discuss which players
are playing with each squad that weekend and will inform the players.
If for any reason you can only play a certain day please talk to the managers and they will try
to accommodate you. We want to have as many players involved in the club as we can.
There are several reasons for this change
1. This is to increase competition within the club and give the club a fair chance of competing for
league and cup honours. We believe that there is more that enough good players to be competing
for honours in both divisions.
2. Everyone will be given a fair chance to compete for places.
We want to to win things. That’s why we put in the effort and train twice and week and turn up in the cold and wet.
We believe that by creating one squad were everyone has an equal chance , we can compete for trophy-ware.
3. Unity within the club. Creating a sense of everyone being an active St. Judes member.
As part of this we will be asking two players to take on the role of social officers. This means organising
some social nights out during the year.
As part of this and pre-season can you make a note in your diary’s (book the night off from the
missus) for Saturday the 9th of August. I’ll be talking to the two managers and we’ll look to organising two games
for that day and drinks for later on that night as part of our pre-season. 7-ups obviously !
Recruiting players.
I’ve included a word document for recruiting players.
As a club we rely on people to bring friends, friends of friends, etc along to join the club.
Please email out the document to mates, people you work with, friends from the Astro league who you
think might be interested. Post it on the company’s internal website, canteen notice board etc.
We’ve bought the domain www.stjudesfootball.com and I’ll endeavour to keep it
up to date with all the match, pitch and club news as I can. If you have anything which you would like
posted please drop me a line.
Apologies to anyone who email address I don’t have. If you spot anyone missing from the list can you please
forward on their email address to me and notify them about training on Monday.
With thanks
Ronan
St. Judes Treasurer.

Lads,

Just want to say well done for the performances in our last 2 away games which enabled us to get 4 points and stirred us from relegation mucky waters.  Our last game of the season is on this coming Saturday in Alsaa against contenders for the league TEK United.  Yes, you probably remember me missing a peno against these when they were a goal up with a few minutes to go.
I had never missed a penalty on grass in competitive football – everyone has heard about this statement countless times  ;)))

Lets beat these boys and throw away their hopes of winning the league and give our season a nice send off. The Chelsea Versus Man United kicks off 12:45pm on Saturday. The plan is to meet up in the bar upstairs in Alsaa to watch most of the match there as a team and go to play the match afterwards.

Let me know if you are available for the season’s last game?

Rennie

The Sunday team drew 1 – 1 in Walkinstown on Thursday. Daragh McGinley with the goal.

The Saturday team won 2 – 0 at Postal on Saturday. Goals came from the boot of Padraig Cournane and a 35+ yard strike from Martin Vereker.

The Saturday team went down 4 – 1 to Shankill the weekend while the Sunday teams game was cancelled when the referee pulled a muscle during warm up.

Take the N11 all the way to the Loughlinstown hospital roundabout. At the roundabout take the third exit, this will actaully lead you into the grounds of the hospital. As you are entering the hospital grounds keep to the left heading towards the Accident  & Emergency car park/entrance. Continue straight ahead pass and up on the grass mound in front of you is an opening in the bushes/trees. The pitch is down that path, you can drive into it and park on the grass.

Its only a couple of hundred yards from the entrance of the hospital.
